Continuing ancient artistry

Wires Eyewear is inspired by African wire artistry, a practice that since the 14th century has turned strings of metal into all sorts of objects using just a skilled pair of hands.

Wires’ frames are handmade by a small team of expert craftsmen in Harare, Zimbabwe, who create each frame from copper and brass wire.

Creating new jobs

At Wires, CRAFTSMEN in harare can turn traditional skills into secure jobs as part of a healthy business.

Each pair of Wires is more than its frame and lenses. It’s a unique story of old traditions, new opportunities and the people who master them both.

Combining technologies

Wires sunglasses combine traditional and cutting edge technologies to guarantee quality in every part.

High quality PC lenses are made in France, ensuring compliance with international standards.

Black and white lens rims are 3D printed in London, one by one, with zero waste and guaranteed strength.

Frames are made in Zimbabwe from enamel-coated copper wire that makes them smooth to the touch and hypoallergenic to the skin in a colour that will last for years.
